History of Yıldız Teknik University
The history of this university dates back to 1911, when it was established as the "School of Supervisors for Higher Education" to qualify technicians working for the municipality. In 1922, its name was changed to the "School of Public Works," during which the duration of study was extended first to two and a half years and then to three years. It later transformed into Istanbul Technical School, and subsequently into the Istanbul State Academy of Engineering and Architecture. In 1982, Yıldız University was founded by Decree No. 41 of 1982.
On July 3, 1992, Yıldız Teknik University was established under Law No. 3837, with the creation of numerous engineering and technical faculties as well as faculties of management and economics. This university has become one of the best Turkish institutions for teaching technical and engineering sciences and initially comprised four main faculties:
